WEEK 3: CULTIVATING HOPE
REMEMBERING THAT HOPE IS ALIVE.
Thursday | December 20
Isaiah 25:6-8 / 26:4-6 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. / Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. He humbles those who dwell on high, he lays the lofty city low; he levels it to the ground and casts it down to the dust. Feet trample it down—the feet of the oppressed, the footsteps of the poor.
In God’s Kingdom, we will all get a seat at the banquet table and feast on His best. Our mourning clothes will be removed, and the tears of death and suffering will be no more. Shame will no longer exist. The poor and the oppressed will be lifted from their lowly place and their oppressor will be humbled. Oh Lord, we long for your return!
