Psalm 83:1 / Exodus 2:23-25 O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God. / During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
Sometimes it seems like the silence of God accompanies the lingering pain of injustice we see in our world. Our weeping goes on, but is it heard? Our hearts ache, but will they be healed? To long for God to rise up is not the sign of the faithless, but the faithful.
